Stephen is the Chief Executive Officer of EfficiencyOne, the not-for-profit operator of Canada’s first electricity efficiency utility, Efficiency Nova Scotia. Under Steve’s leadership, EfficiencyOne continues its track record of meeting its energy savings targets under budget, with a focus on continuous improvement, innovation, and customer satisfaction. Nova Scotia’s results and innovative model has been cited by the influential International Energy Agency, and by the Pan Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change. Steve has been named a recipient of Canada’s 2018 Clean50 award for his industry-leading efforts promoting energy efficiency and reducing C02 emissions in Nova Scotia. Steve is a relentless champion for the development and growth of the energy efficiency industry in Nova Scotia, and the more than 1,000 people working in this field across the province. A Chartered Professional Accountant, prior to his appointment as CEO, Steve previously served as EfficiencyOne’s Chief Operating Officer and held senior leadership positions with a Nova Scotia Crown Corporation and Grant Thornton. Steve currently serves on the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Greater Halifax/Dartmouth.

Andy Collier is the Energy Programs Coordinator for efficiencyPEI. In his role, Andy manages the delivery of energy efficiency programs and provides information and advice to Islanders on energy efficiency. Andy joined efficiencyPEI in 2008 after having spent 10 years in the private sector within the green building and sustainable design disciplines. Andy has a diploma in Construction Technology program from Holland College and a Bachelor of Integrated Studies degree in Environmental Studies from UPEI. In 2009, Andy and his partner constructed an owner-built passive solar straw bale house in Emyvale, PE where the two reside along with their two children.
Manager, Program Delivery, NB Power
Beth is a broad based program delivery manager with over 20 years of experience in delivering innovative programs and services to the people of New Brunswick. Beth worked with NBTel and Bell Aliant for 13 years marketing and developing internet and digital TV services before moving to Efficiency NB where she eventually became the Director of Program Delivery. Since transitioning to NB Power in 2015 Beth has continued to lead the development and delivery of Efficiency Services to the residents and businesses of New Brunswick.
Community Development and Climate Change Adaptation Coordinator, Bathurst Sustainable Development
Brenda Kelley was raised in the Annapolis Valley and is a graduate of Nova Scotia Teacher’s College. She owned and operated a Child Development Center in Bathurst, NB for 18 years before becoming one of the founders of Bathurst Sustainable Development. For the last 20 years Brenda has been the Community Development and Climate Change Adaptation Coordinator at the incorporated nonprofit environmental organization. Through her role at Bathurst Sustainable Development Brenda works with citizens, municipalities, businesses and governments to develop, foster and engage community collaborative action, environmental education and public outreach on topics pertaining to sustainable development and climate change adaptation.
Manager of Energy Programs for the Clean Nova Scotia Foundation
Carl Little is the Manager of Energy Programs for the Clean Nova Scotia Foundation, a non-profit environmental organization founded in 1988. Carl oversees programs addressing energy concerns in the areas of low-income homeowners, Net Zero homes, and PACE-style financing.

Mr. Murray is a seasoned energy efficiency and carbon reduction program implementer, a professional engineer, and a passionate management consultant.
He has launched eight Commercial and Industrial programs for Canadian electric & gas utilities and provincial government agencies.

Corey has more than two decades of experience leading social change organizations focused on engaging people to take action on critical environmental and social issues. Corey was previously the COO and Partner of global consulting firm, Realized Worth, a company focused on the design and implementation of corporate volunteering and giving programs. Corey also spent 10 years helping to lead Summerhill, a national firm focused on engaging the public on energy efficiency behaviours. Holding various positions, including President/Chief Transformer, U.S. expansion lead and Executive Director of the non-for-profit arm, Corey worked with utilities, government agencies and the private sector to drive significant energy savings across Canada.

Curtis Howe is CEO and co-founder of Mariner Partners Inc. He has 30 years of experience in business and technology strategy and development, product marketing, systems integration, IT and network operations and business change management across various industries. The Mariner group of companies provides core IT and strategic advisory services, has globally commercialized six technologies and invests in the development of enterprise product offerings leveraging emerging technologies. Curtis is particularly focused on the impact of Mariner’s Energy Optimization Software and its contribution to reducing energy costs and emissions in commercial buildings. A lifelong resident of New Brunswick, he graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Controls & Equipment’s Director of Technical Solutions has over 25 years of experience in the Building Automation and Energy Management industry. David deGreeff has worked in multiple roles with both Building Controls Contractors and in Building Controls Manufacturing. His training in Automation/Robotics (Mechatronics) and his love for the outdoors set the stage for his passion in building controls, energy management and building environmental solutions. With years of experience as a designer, builder, project manager, inspector, energy advisor and R-2000 professional, he holds numerous certifications and licenses and sits on several industry boards and committees. Dennis has developed and delivered training for AHWP, NSHBA, NRCAN, HRAI, NSPower, and NAIMA. Known for his building code translation skills and problem-solving abilities, he has additional strengths in mechanical systems, residential design and conciliation facilitation. Dennis is a member of the Building Canada Atlantic team and has worked on several research, development and training projects.

Derek Kelly is a Senior Industry Officer at Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) Office of Energy Efficiency. Derek works with Canadian industry across a number of sectors, helping to deliver NRCan’s industrial energy efficiency programs and support. He also helps companies build knowledge and take action on energy efficiency through the Canadian Industry Partnership for Energy Conservation (CIPEC). Prior to joining NRCan, Derek worked for several years in other federal government departments in international market development, branding, public affairs and communications.

Ed is a recognized leader in the lighting industry regarding energy efficient sustainable lighting solutions with a focus on new LED products and technologies. He is responsible for supporting Canada’s commercial, industrial, institutional and retail property managers’ transition to LED and ensuring that the best possible payback, ROI, incentives and sustainability benefits are achieved. Ed has managed hundreds of energy efficient lighting projects which have resulted in the savings of many megawatts of electricity and millions of dollars in cost savings. Since 1998, Eddie has coordinated initiatives focused on developing strategies for local sustainability, GHG emissions reduction, clean energy and efficiency, transportation / fleets, climate adaptation and resilience planning. Eddie chairs the QUEST NB-PEI Caucus, working to advance Smart Energy Communities, and is the Senior Lead, Projects and Advisory Services, to QUEST. In this role, he supports over 50 FCM Partners for Climate Protection members in Atlantic Canada. Eddie also co-chairs the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC)’s Energy and Utilities working group and is a Charter member of the OGC Smart Cities working group. Eddie holds a BA Interdisciplinary Honours (Sociology, Political Science, Environment, Science & Technology) from St. Thomas University, and owns and operates company Spatial Quest based in Fredericton NB.

A Mi’kmaq from Metepenagiag First Nation, Edward is passionate about his role with NB Power. A graduate of the University of New Brunswick majoring in Biology and History, Edward worked as educator and administrator for 10 years before joining NB Power in 2007. First Nations Specialist role has provided Edward the opportunity to improve relations, strategize resolutions to legacy issues, offer guidance, support and facilitation to Indigenous communities here in NB. Edward and the NB Power First Nations Affairs team are very passionate about capacity building internally as well as externally, and have worked towards creating a Cultural Awareness/Sensitivity program for existing and new employees, as well as working towards becoming leaders in Indigenous inclusion and Corporate/Indigenous partnerships.

Since becoming President in 2009, Ersilia has led Summerhill to expand its reach across Canada and the U.S., and continues to deliver some of the most impactful, results-oriented programs that help our clients achieve measureable reductions in energy use. Ersilia holds an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto with a double major in Biology and Environmental Science. At the community level, Ersilia acts as the President for the Clean Economy Fund and is a Director on the Board of the Independent Electricity Systems Operator (IESO); Ersilia was recently ranked #14 on the list of Top 100 Female Entrepreneurs in Canada by Profit Magazine and was named a marketing icon in the making by Strategy Magazine in September 2007. An energy expert working in the energy efficiency and renewable energy sector, Gabriel is a project manager with Econoler’s National Department where he works on energy efficiency projects. In his role, he combines practical experience with strong knowledge to offer clients a holistic vision of energy management. His academic and professional background covers a lot of ground—from energy production to energy use. He is well versed in addressing technical, financial and managerial issues, as well as any problems related to energy, project or risk management. Gabriel has travelled with clients in various parts of the world to ease the processes of their energy performance contract, performed market and opportunity studies as well as technical analyses to assess the return on investments made in energy efficiency.
Supply Chain Manager, Province of New Brunswick
Greg is a Supply Chain Management Professional with 15 years of experience in the public sector. He is the Treasurer for the Supply Chain Management Association of New Brunswick and a Lean Six Sigma Master Black with the New Brunswick Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DTI), responsible for leading complex improvement projects primarily in the supply chain field. Prior to his current role, he was a Financial Analyst validating pricing and fuel consumption projections on GNB fleet procurement tenders. As a Supply Chain Manager, he improved contract specifications for the procurement of repair parts for GNB’s fleet and managed DTI’s network of 30 stockrooms. His experience and expertise has led to substantial savings and efficiencies within DTI.
Energy Efficiency Consultant, NB Power
Joe has been a builder, renovator and trainer specializing in energy efficiency for over thirty years. He was one of New Brunswick’s first group of R2000 builders and in 2003 won the Cement Association of Canada’s national award for the most energy efficient R2000 house of the year. Joe has delivered training in most provinces and Nunavut on a wide range of topics related to residential housing and energy efficiency and has also worked with Efficiency NB and NB Power as part of their residential energy efficiency programs’ teams.
Energy Manager, Dalhousie University
Justin is the on-site Energy Manager at Dalhousie University and is responsible for identifying, coordinating, and assisting in the implementation of energy conservation projects within the university. He has worked as an energy management consultant for the past 6 years within the industrial, commercial, and institutional sectors. Justin holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, is a licensed professional engineer, and is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) through the Association of Energy Engineers.
Team Lead – Energy Conservation Programs, Newfoundland Power
Keith has been working in the utility industry with Newfoundland Power for over 10 years. In his time with the company, he has spent his worked with the customer service and energy conservation teams, experience which allows him to take a customer centric approach to issues around energy conservation. In his current role, Keith is responsible to guiding his team of program managers through the planning, implementation and evaluation of conservation programs at Newfoundland Power. He leads a team of residential and a team of commercial program managers as they begin to navigate their way through a changing conservation landscape in Newfoundland and Labrador. Following his undergraduate degrees in Arts and Business, Keith has completed his Masters in Employment Relations at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Regional Director – Atlantic Chapter, Canada Green Building Council
In her role, Lara works with the organization’s senior management team and the local leadership board to advance the adoption of green building practices in Atlantic Canada though networking, education and advocacy. Prior to assuming this role full time, Lara was a consultant specializing in corporate social responsibility. Creating and executing strategies on employee engagement, community investment and environmental sustainability is her particular area of expertise. In addition to a B.A from the University of King’s College and a BPR from Mount Saint Vincent University, she also holds a Certificate in Corporate Social Responsibility from the Conference Board of Canada and the University of St. Michael’s College.
Manager, Innovation & Provincial Representation, Efficiency Nova Scotia
Liam has spent the past seven years implementing and managing programs for Efficiency Nova Scotia’s commercial and residential sectors. He currently oversees a portfolio of pilot programs which target alternative engagement strategies and non-electrically heated buildings. Liam has provided insight to counterparts in Alberta and Ontario when planning new energy efficiency programs, and collaborated with international peers in the development of the EcoDistricts Protocol.
Executive Director, Conservation Council of New Brunswick
Lois Corbett leads the Conservation Council of New Brunswick in its goal of helping governments, businesses, educators and families find practical solutions to protect our land, air and water. An environmental policy expert, Lois served as an advisor to several Ministers of the Environment in Ontario before establishing her own consulting business. She has more than 20 years of professional experience in the Canadian non-profit environmental sector, working as Executive Director of the Toronto Environmental Alliance, the Toronto Atmospheric Fund and before that, Ecology Action Centre in Halifax. Lois’ work experience has touched on many issues, from acid rain and smog to climate change and renewable energy solutions, from watershed protection to waste reduction. An expert strategist, negotiator and communicator with extensive policy reform experience, Lois returned home to New Brunswick in 2014.

Mark Murray is an accomplished sales and marketing professional with more than 20 years experience leading and working with teams in the consumer-packaged goods, retail, petroleum and utility industries. He is currently the Manager of Marketing, Sales & Communications at Enbridge Gas New Brunswick and has been with the organization for the past 7 years. Prior to his work with Enbridge, Mark was the Director of Sales and Marketing at British American Tobacco and was responsible for both North American and European markets for over 12 years. Closer to the Maritimes, Mark has worked in the petroleum industry in both Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. During this time, he was responsible for retail, commercial & Industrial sales, home heating, terminal operations and administration.
Executive Director, Energy Efficiency & Community Engagement, New Brunswick Power Corporation
Michel is a graduate from the University of New Brunswick in Mechanical Engineering and a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick and is also a member on the Board of Directors for the Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative. Michel currently oversees the Energy Efficiency file within NB Power. Michel has a broad level of exposure to the utility industry and is focused on the utility sector transformation with a keen focus on the evolving energy consumer. He has been actively engaged and is a frequent public speaker at energy conferences across North America focused on a customer centric approach to transformation. He’s presented at Grid Edge as NB Power received an award as a GTM Top 20 Disruptor in the utility industry in 2015. Recently, Michel was the Program Director of the award winning “PowerShift Atlantic” project; focused on collaborative and innovative solutions, engaging customers and leveraging new smart grid – energy storage technologies to better integrate renewables such as intermittent wind in the Maritime Provinces. NB Power and the project received a number of awards including the Smart Grid Canada “2015 Innovation Award” for Canadian Utilities.

Monali conducts research in lighting and other technology areas. She previously worked for ABB, India in its Medium Voltage Switchgear Division, where her focus was designing protection systems for heavy machinery. Monali has a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Wyoming.

Peter has 35 years of specialized experience with energy efficiency projects, energy management information systems (EMIS) and energy management systems (EnMS). He is currently working with industrial companies in North America to implement advanced energy management practices in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, Wisconsin and California.
Founder, New Brunswick Smart Grid Consortium
Peter began helping Canadian businesses and homeowners save energy and reduce their environmental footprint in the early 1990’s. His past activities include launching the first Employee Energy Awareness Program in Ontario, Canada in 1992 for his employer at the time, Woodbridge Foam Corporation. As the Environment Director for the Canadian Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association in Toronto from 1996 to 2000, he advised numerous industry member on environmental issues. In 2007, Peter co-founded GreenNexxus, developers of sustainability focused web-based programs like the award-winning Cisco Systems and CBC One Million Acts of Green campaign. Peter was a founding board member of The Climate Reality Project Canada, a member of the global non-profit organization launched by Al Gore in 2006 to train people around the world to present a live version of the slide show featured in the movie An Inconvenient Truth. Peter is the founder of the New Brunswick Smart Grid Consortium, an organization focused on providing strategic direction and marketing assistance for New Brunswick smart grid-based businesses and communities.
Community Energy Specialist, NB Power
As Community Energy Specialist at NB Power, Sara works with communities and their stakeholders to develop Community Energy Plans. Sara’s goal is to see more communities partner with NB Power by developing new products, services and programs that will help communities reduce energy consumption, manage energy usage, and lessen their impact on the environment. Sara has over 20 years’ experience in the telecommunications and energy industries and her knowledge and expertise in the areas of building science, energy efficiency and renewable energy have earned her designations as a Residential Energy Advisor, Certified Energy Manager, and LEED Green Associate.
Mechanical Design Engineer, MCW Group of Companies
During his 6 year tenure with MCW in Moncton, Scott has taken on increasing responsibilities within MCW Maricor. Starting initially as a graduate junior mechanical engineering in the energy management field, he was quickly exposed to energy auditing and became a part of the energy program development team. Scott quickly moved into a measure management role and has developed many innovate designs with proven performance. In Scott’s current role, he is primarily assigned duties of a mechanical design engineer for complex retrofit and new construction projects. Scott naturally implements the sustainable design and building performance optimization knowledge he has acquired into all his designs. Scott was a key part of developing MCW projects including the Dalhousie University Tupper-CRC energy performance program, Holland College Performance Hall, Maritime Chick Hatchery, and UNB Bailey Hall Fish Laboratory to name a few projects.
Director of Energy Programs, Clean Nova Scotia Foundation
Sean Kelly is the Director of Energy Programs for the Clean Nova Scotia Foundation, a non-profit environmental organization founded in 1988. He is the former Manager of Communications for the organization. Sean has decades of experience working in the non-profit sector for organizations including Cuso International, the Community Sector Council of Nova Scotia, Unicef and the Lester Pearson Institute for International Development.
Sean has also produced radio and video documentaries, and has been published in magazines and newspapers across Canada on topics including international development, indigenous rights, and the environment. Sean holds degrees in International Development and Adult Education.
Consultant, Energy Business Advisory, Digital Grid, Siemens Canada
Sonya consults on business transformation and grid modernization solutions in the electric utility sector. As an economist, Sonya’s 25-year consulting career has included leading work in climate change mitigation and sustainability strategy design, including environmental, energy, and GHG monitoring and reduction programs and measurement systems. Her current work has focused on electric vehicle strategy and business model design in a transforming smart grid utility; service development & program design for new smart grid related products and services; as well as marketing, communications and customer engagement related elements of the ‘utility of the future.’
Program Coordinator, Smart Habits and Community Outreach Programs, NB Power Energy Efficiency Services
Efficiency, energy and social responsibility not only describe Susan but are the core beliefs that drive her work at NB Power. After a successful career in the telecommunications industry, Susan joined the team of Efficiency NB in 2009 and continued on as the team transitioned to NB Power’s Energy Efficiency Services. Before her current position as Program Coordinator for the Smart Habits and Community Outreach Programs, Susan supported a variety of other programs like the Commercial Industrial Program, Ductless Heat Pump Program as well as having been a Public Outreach Officer. Susan exudes a positive attitude both personally and professionally. When not at NB Power, she is likely found in one of the local fitness facilities working with personal training clients or instructing a fitness class.
Senior Manager, Supply Management, Irving Oil
Vincent is a Supply Chain Professional with over 25 years of experience in the Oil & Gas, Aerospace, Energy and Automotive industries. He is currently President of the Supply Chain Association of New Brunswick and a Senior Manager with Irving Oil responsible for managing the Supply Management teams supporting the Corporate, Transportation, Sales & Marketing, and Facilities groups. Prior to Joining Irving Oil, Vincent was the Vice President of Supply Chain for Stelia NA, the largest subsidiary of Airbus and had previously supported their global procurement operations from France. He brings extensive experience in supply management and negotiation methodologies that have contributed to millions in cost savings throughout his career.
Energy Efficiency Analyst, Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro
Wade has been with Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro (NL Hydro) for 10 years. His role as an analyst involves program development, launch and delivery and he works with residential and commercial customers to deliver takeCHARGE programs for NL Hydro. Prior to working with NL Hydro, Wade worked as a commissioning specialist with the Government of Newfoundland, commissioning new commercial buildings all across the province. Additionally, Wade has spent 10 years working in the manufacturing sector building custom HVAC equipment in Ontario.
