Executive Director, Efficiency Canada
Corey has more than two decades of experience leading social change organizations focused on engaging people to take action on critical environmental and social issues.
Corey was previously the COO and Partner of global consulting firm, Realized Worth, a company focused on the design and implementation of corporate volunteering and giving programs.
Corey also spent 10 years helping to lead Summerhill, a national firm focused on engaging the public on energy efficiency behaviours. Holding various positions, including President/Chief Transformer, U.S. expansion lead and Executive Director of the non-for-profit arm, Corey worked with utilities, government agencies and the private sector to drive significant energy savings across Canada.
Corey volunteers his time on a number of boards, including the Atmospheric Fund, where he also chairs the Grants Committee. An avid reader, record collector and musician, his biggest passion is hugging trees with his daughter, Savannah.

Originally from Sutton, Quebec, Amanda has a Bachelor of Art’s Degree in Geography from Mount Allison University and a Masters in Environmental Studies from Dalhousie University and has worked in the sustainable community development field for 20 years.
Previously Amanda worked as an associate with Chignecto Consulting Group Inc., Mount Allison University’s Rural and Small Town Program, and Agriculture Canada. Her work with EOS has focused on climate change adaptation, energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainable living, and environmental education. She was also instrumental in starting up Beausejour Renewable Energy, a renewable energy investment co-operative. She lives on a small hobby farm in Sackville with her husband, Nic McLellan, and their two children where they enjoy their solar hot water system, raising chickens, and tending to their gardens.
Manager of Energy, City of Barrie, Ontario
Adam works with a mandate to reduce energy and utility consumption of corporate owned assets. Since the inception of the Energy Management program in 2013, the City has realized a cost avoidance of over $6,000,000. Prior to joining The City of Barrie, Adam worked as the Environmental Initiatives Coordinator for The Town of Blue Mountains and as an Environmental Specialist with an environmental consulting firm.
Adam has an Honours B.A. Geography and Environmental Studies as well as a Post-Graduate Certificate in Environmental Management & Assessment. He is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Measurement & Verification Processional (CMVP) and Certified Energy Auditor (CEA).
Senior Manager, Energy for BGIS
With more than 16 years of experience, Andrew provides technical leadership to the National team of energy managers with a direct focus on making the Government of Canada’s building portfolio carbon neutral. Andrew is currently focused on the delivery of Carbon Neutral Studies and several Major Retrofit projects throughout Canada.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering with a Certificate in Green Energy. Andrew also maintains the designation of Certified Energy Manager through active involvement in technical project work, professional development and conference participation. Recently, Andrew founded the AEE Canada East chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers operating out of Ottawa and continues to act as President of the Chapter.

Beth is a broad based program delivery manager and marketer with over 20 years of experience in delivering innovative programs and services to the people of New Brunswick. Beth worked with NBTel and Bell Aliant for 13 years marketing and developing internet and digital TV services before moving to Efficiency NB where she eventually became the Director of Program Delivery. As Senior Manager of Energy Efficiency Services at NB Power Beth supports a dynamic team that helps New Brunswickers benefit from energy efficiency.
Director, Digital Buildings, Cisco’s Industry Transformation Division Canada
Bill has extensive experience within the AEC (Architects Engineers Constructors) Space and is intimate in the design, implementation and operation of dynamic building systems. Bill has been intimately involved with the progress of open data communication standards and converged base building networks. Bill has deep knowledge in the areas of Converged Building Systems, Enterprise Integration and the Delivery of High Performance Problem Solving.
He is an honors graduate of the Queens University Electrical Engineering Program and is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) with the American Energy Engineers (AEE) Association and resides in Toronto, Ontario.
Blane and Heather Smith
New Brunswick Homeowners
Blane and Heather built their house in Sackville, NB in 1988 and have since operated both a carpentry and a greenhouse business from their home. The house plan is a Cape Cod style with windows oriented to catch the east and south light. Even though the original house was well insulated, in 1988 it was upgraded through the Efficiency NB program as a ‘Grid Tied Net Zero’ home.
Lead Analyst, Technology Assessment, ESource
Bryan conducts research on emerging, energy-efficient, and distributed energy resource technologies. His main areas of expertise lie in electric vehicles, electric motors, batteries and energy storage, distributed generation, and renewable power systems. Bryan brings to the company over 10 years of professional experience as an energy engineer and research analyst, including for the Electric Power Research Institute, California Energy Commission, and University of California at Davis.
His industry knowledge, combined with hands-on experience, enable him to address member needs from a holistic, systems-oriented perspective. Bryan worked as both a research manager and product manager before entering his current role. He holds a BS in environmental engineering from Humboldt State University and an MS in civil and environmental engineering from the University of California at Davis.

Carman has 27 years’ experience in designing efficient and sustainable mechanical and electrical systems for new or retrofitted buildings. He is a LEED Accredited professional and CEM who leads a highly motivated team in the development of leading edge solutions within university campuses that will create sustainable building and utility infrastructure for the future. With engineering firm MCW Maricor, Carmen provided mechanical, electrical and energy modeling services for the construction of the UNB Fredericton’s new Kinesiology building.
Project Manager, Major Capital Projects, University of New Brunswick
Craig has more than 28 years’ experience in construction industry with the past 16 years working at UNB with Facilities Management and now Capital Planning and Property Development and has overseen the construction of the new Kinesiology building on the Fredericton campus. Craig is a graduate of NBCC Moncton, the APPA Institute for Facilities Management and obtained his Certified Educational Facilities Professional Designation in 2016.

Curtis has 30 years of experience in business and technology strategy and development, product marketing, systems integration, IT and network operations and business change management across various industries. The Mariner group of companies provides core IT and strategic advisory services, has globally commercialized six technologies and invests in the development of enterprise product offerings leveraging emerging technologies. Curtis is particularly focused on the impact of Mariner’s Energy Optimization Software and its contribution to reducing energy costs and emissions in commercial buildings. A lifelong resident of New Brunswick, he graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Curtis is a licensed Professional Engineer, and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geo-Scientists of New Brunswick.
Director of Technical Solutions, Controls & Equipment's
Controls & Equipment’s Director of Technical Solutions has over 25 years of experience in the Building Automation and Energy Management industry. David deGreeff has worked in multiple roles with both Building Controls Contractors and in Building Controls Manufacturing. His training in Automation/Robotics (Mechatronics) and his love for the outdoors set the stage for his passion in building controls, energy management and building environmental solutions. As a self-proclaimed “Environmental Realist”, David and his team seek out holistic solutions to reduce energy consumption, working to maintain client comfort while simultaneously maximizing energy savings.
Senior Industry Officer, Natural Resources Canada's (NRCan) Office of Energy Efficiency
Derek Kelly is a Senior Industry Officer at Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) Office of Energy Efficiency. Derek works with Canadian industry across a number of sectors, helping to deliver NRCan’s industrial energy efficiency programs and support. He also helps companies build knowledge and take action on energy efficiency through the Canadian Industry Partnership for Energy Conservation (CIPEC). Prior to joining NRCan, Derek worked for several years in other federal government departments in international market development, branding, public affairs and communications.
Owner / Principal - Spatial Quest Solutions
Since 1998, Eddie has coordinated initiatives focused on developing strategies for local sustainability, GHG emissions reduction, clean energy and efficiency, transportation / fleets, climate adaptation and resilience planning. Eddie chairs the QUEST NB-PEI Caucus, working to advance Smart Energy Communities, and is the Senior Lead, Projects and Advisory Services, to QUEST. In this role, he supports over 50 FCM Partners for Climate Protection members in Atlantic Canada. Eddie also co-chairs the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC)’s Energy and Utilities working group and is a Charter member of the OGC Smart Cities working group. Eddie holds a BA Interdisciplinary Honours (Sociology, Political Science, Environment, Science & Technology) from St. Thomas University, and owns and operates company Spatial Quest based in Fredericton NB.
Sustainability Engineer, East Port Properties
Edgar is a graduate of Memorial University in Electrical Engineering and member of Engineers Nova Scotia. During the last 12 years, Edgar has worked in various industries including offshore oil & gas, electric utilities, building sciences, but primarily energy management. He is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) through the Association of Energy Engineers, and a LEED Accredited Professional with the Canadian Green Building Council.
Edgar joined East Port Properties in 2015 where he works with the operations team to optimize and report on energy and water consumption, prepare utility budgets, as well as identifying and assessing energy reduction opportunities for existing properties and new developments in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

A Mi’kmaq from Metepenagiag First Nation, Edward is passionate about his role with NB Power. A graduate of the University of New Brunswick majoring in Biology and History, Edward worked as educator and administrator for 10 years before joining NB Power in 2007. First Nations Specialist role has provided Edward the opportunity to improve relations, strategize resolutions to legacy issues, offer guidance, support and facilitation to Indigenous communities here in NB. Edward and the NB Power First Nations Affairs team are very passionate about capacity building internally as well as externally, and have worked towards creating a Cultural Awareness/Sensitivity program for existing and new employees, as well as working towards becoming leaders in Indigenous inclusion and Corporate/Indigenous partnerships.

Since becoming President in 2009, Ersilia has led Summerhill to expand its reach across Canada and the U.S., and continues to deliver some of the most impactful, results-oriented programs that help our clients achieve measureable reductions in energy use. Ersilia holds an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto with a double major in Biology and Environmental Science. At the community level, Ersilia acts as the President for the Clean Economy Fund and is a Director on the Board of the Independent Electricity Systems Operator (IESO); Ersilia was recently ranked #14 on the list of Top 100 Female Entrepreneurs in Canada by Profit Magazine and was named a marketing icon in the making by Strategy Magazine in September 2007. She is also a member of the Climate Project, having been trained by Al Gore.

Evelyne Bouchard is a course instructor and board director at Passive House Canada. She is also a practicing architect (OAA & OAQ) and principal at Tandem Architecture Écologique, a small firm dedicated to creating high-performance sustainable projects at all scales through collaboration with like-minded professionals. Evelyne is passionate about the overlap between thoughtful design and technical rigour. She strives to embed Passive House design principles and measurable performance into the creative process to design projects that are durable, sustainable, functional and beautiful.
Senior Research Lead, Dunsky Energy Consulting
François is a Senior Research Lead at Dunsky Energy Consulting, where his work helps his client build a sustainable energy future. His expertise and in-depth knowledge of energy efficiency programs and opportunities span the residential, commercial and industrial sector, where he is particularly adept at assessing technical and market solutions. François has analyzed, designed and optimized several leading energy efficiency programs in Canada, as well as conducted long-term energy efficiency opportunity assessments for numerous clients in Canada and the US. Having been involved for 25 years in energy and energy efficiency, he’s enthusiastic about the new prospects to accelerate the clean energy transition.
General Manager, Enbridge Gas New Brunswick
Born in Edmundston New Brunswick, Gilles is the General Manager of Enbridge Gas New Brunswick, the province’s public natural gas distribution utility. A graduate of the University of New Brunswick, he is a seasoned business leader who prior to joining Enbridge, held a variety of management roles with NBTel and Aliant, including business development, marketing and operations.
Under his leadership, Enbridge Gas New Brunswick has won a number of awards including ranking as one of the “Best Places to Work in Atlantic Canada,” the “Healthy Workplace” CCGM Business Excellence Award, the United Way “Community Engagement” Award and one of Habitat for Humanity’s “Volunteer & Partnership” awards.
Affordable Housing Specialist, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), New Brunswick
Guylaine holds a Degree in Social Work and a Law Degree from the Université de Moncton and is a non-practicing member of the Law Society of New Brunswick and the Law Society of Upper Canada.
Plant Manager, Sæplast Americas Inc.
Sæplast, celebrating its 40th year of operation in Saint John, NB is a Plastic Rotational Molding company that is part of the RPC-Group headquartered in London, UK. With Sæplast since 2017, Jason focuses his energy on leadership, employee engagement, safety, sustainability, continuous improvement and life-long learning. Prior to that Jason developed his experience, knowledge and skills in the pulp & paper industries from coast-to-coast. Beginning in the BC woodlands, Jason returned East in 2000 and pressed on into paper manufacturing (maintenance & operations) followed by a move into transportation (rail).
Jason’s past successes and achievements in energy efficiency (most notably a winner of 2011’s National Award in the Employee Awareness & Training Category) and cost reduction initiatives continue to fuel and drive current and future project charters at Sæplast.
Internal Energy Manager, NB Power
Jeff is a New Brunswick native that has worked in the commercial buildings efficiency spaces since 2008. He started his career working for Enerplan Consultants performing commercial energy auditing and modeling services. After a few years Jeff moved on to work for the Department of transportation and Infrastructure’s Buildings Group where he developed their building automation network and designed / implemented energy upgrades in public buildings.
In 2015 Jeff took a position with the City of Fredericton’s Building Services group as their Energy Analyst where he focused on managing the City’s HVAC systems from an energy efficiency, operational and maintenance perspective. In February of 2018 He then took a position with NB Power as their Internal Energy Manager where is helping make NB Power’s building infrastructure more efficient while taking an active role developing up and coming technologies and energy management practices.
Energy Efficiency Consultant, NB Power
Joe Waugh has been a builder, renovator and trainer specializing in energy efficiency for over thirty years. He was one of New Brunswick’s first group of R2000 builders and in 2003 won the Cement Association of Canada’s national award for the most energy efficient R2000 house of the year.
Joe has delivered training in most provinces and Nunavut on a wide range of topics related to residential housing and energy efficiency.
Joe has also worked with Efficiency NB and NB Power as part of their residential energy efficiency programs’ teams.
Regional Director – Atlantic Chapter, of the Canada Green Building Council
In this role, she works with the organization’s senior management team and the local leadership board to advance the adoption of green building practices in Atlantic Canada though networking, education and advocacy.
Prior to assuming this role full time, Lara was a consultant specializing in corporate social responsibility.
Creating and executing strategies on employee engagement, community investment and environmental sustainability is her particular area of expertise.
Besides a B.A from the University of King’s College and a BPR from Mount Saint Vincent University, she also holds a Certificate in Corporate Social Responsibility from the Conference Board of Canada and the University of St. Michael’s College.
Associate and Senior Engineer, Maritech Commissioning Works Ltd.
Luc is a mechanical engineer with a degree from the Université de Moncton in Moncton, NB. He has over 20 years of experience in the HVAC industry, having worked with REHAU Industries Inc., Enbridge Gas New Brunswick and MCW Maricor. As an Associate and Senior Engineer with Maritech Commissioning Works Ltd., he has led the commissioning process on multiple new and existing buildings, ranging from large scale LEED® and Green Globes® projects to smaller, system specific commissioning exercises.
Luc is a member of the NB / PEI Chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and has received an ASHRAE Chapter Service Award in 2011. Luc is also a Certified Energy Manager and Certified Energy Auditor, receiving accreditation from the Association of Energy Engineers in 2011 and 2012 respectively.
Executive Director, Brand & Marketing, NB Power
Michel is a graduate from the University of New Brunswick in Mechanical Engineering and a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick and is also a member on the Board of Directors for the Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative. Michel currently oversees the Energy Efficiency file within NB Power. Michel has a broad level of exposure to the utility industry and is focused on the utility sector transformation with a keen focus on the evolving energy consumer. He has been actively engaged and is a frequent public speaker at energy conferences across North America focused on a customer centric approach to transformation. He’s presented at Grid Edge as NB Power received an award as a GTM Top 20 Disruptor in the utility industry in 2015. Recently, Michel was the Program Director of the award winning “PowerShift Atlantic” project; focused on collaborative and innovative solutions, engaging customers and leveraging new smart grid – energy storage technologies to better integrate renewables such as intermittent wind in the Maritime Provinces. NB Power and the project received a number of awards including the Smart Grid Canada “2015 Innovation Award” for Canadian Utilities.

MCW Maricor, Consulting Engineers
With 30 years of consulting engineering field experience, Michael has developed an expertise in HVAC project delivery, Energy Analysis and IAQ Fields. His extensive experience in mechanical systems design, construction, energy analysis and life cycle analysis has allowed him to compare systems and incorporate efficiency measures on both new and retrofit projects.
Armed with experience in central utility plants and HVAC systems, Michael is now providing leading edge solutions to the cannabis industry. From large scale chiller plant systems to various methods of unitary equipment to service both indoor and greenhouse operations, Michael’s projects have used heat recovery technology to recapture and reuse energy throughout client buildings. Furthermore, he has developed and implemented commissioning plans and user training programs for clients to better operate buildings and environmental control systems.
Lead Engineer & Manager of the Energy Smart Innovation Lab, NB Power
Nurul is a registered professional engineer, a certified energy manager and a TOGAF certified Enterprise Architect. Nurul received his Master’s in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick and his Bachelors in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. His current role in the Research and Development Division of NB Power is focused on finding cheaper and alternative sources of energy, integrating controllable and distributed energy resources into the NB electric grid, and helping to develop products and services for NB Power.
New Brunswick Homeowner
Peeter has worked on the design and construction of numerous energy efficient buildings since the early 80’s. He and his wife Kate designed and built their Saint John home in 1984 to the then newly introduced R2000 energy efficiency standards. His most recent project was the design and construction of their energy efficient off-grid home and hobby farm in Bocabec, which is powered by a hybrid solar and wind energy system and heated with a wood stove.
Peeter has also worked on developing utility scale wind energy projects in NB and NS.
Energy Engineer, 3M
Rashmi is one of the Energy Engineering members of 3M’s Corporate Energy Management team. She helps lead corporate initiatives to continuously improve energy performance and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in 3M’s manufacturing plants and commercial buildings across Canada. These efforts have allowed the facilities to achieve ISO 50001 and SEP Energy Management Standards.
She holds a BASc degree and previously worked as a Research Associate for the Water and Energy Research Lab, both at the University of Toronto.
Senior Associate, QUEST
Rob has over 35 years of experience in many facets of the energy industry with a
focus on policy development and implementation of energy and climate change
projects and programs in the municipal and community sectors.
Prior to starting his own consultancy, Robert J. Kerr + Associates he was the
Community Energy Manager at the City of Guelph from 2009 to 2017. Currently, Rob
provides support services to cities and their communities in developing and implementing community energy plans.
Rob’s work experience has been a balance between private and public sector – having worked with the Cities of Guelph and Mississauga, Honeywell, Hydro Quebec, Toronto Hydro Energy Services Inc. and Energy Advantage. For 10 years between 1995 and 2005, he held senior positions at ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability.
Community Energy Specialist, NB Power
As Community Energy Specialist at NB Power, Sara works with communities and their stakeholders to develop Community Energy Plans. Sara’s goal is to see more communities partner with NB Power by developing new products, services and programs that will help communities to reduce their energy consumption, manage their energy usage, and lessen their impact on the environment.
Sara has over 20 years’ experience in the telecommunications and energy industries and her knowledge and expertise in the areas of building science, energy efficiency and renewable energy have earned her designations as a Residential Energy Advisor, Certified Energy Manager, and LEED Green Associate.
CEO, Band Operations - Neqotkuk Maliseet Nation (Tobique First Nation)
Tanna is a very proud Wolastoqiyik from Neqotkuk Maliseet Nation (Tobique First Nation) and has a keen interest in green technology and sustainable energy projects, which has developed into a passion for moving towards greener communities. Tanna feels that now more than ever is the time where integrating First Nation traditional methods of sustainability with today’s green technology will help us create greener and brighter futures for the next 8 generations. Tanna was a Catalyst for the 2016 20/20 Catalysts Program.
